Chiens d'mer

Rochester Sweeps Festival 2006 - Prince Of Wales Strood

I first met this band of French musicians at last years Sweeps, again in the POW. Their music I suppose, could only be described as Nautical French Punk! They played a mixture of French sea shanties with old classics like "The Wild Rover" and "The Drunken Sailor", all sang in French, thrown in for good measure.

A very talented and focused band - excellent! Going by the amount of cheering and clapping from the pub audience, a very entertaining band. I suppose the fact that I had seen them play before aided my enjoyment because I knew what to expect from chien d'mer, and I was not disappointed. They were GREAT!

Last year I spent a night in the same digs as the band and had a great night in their company drinking beer, smoking Disque Bleu and chatting about their music.

I can remember having breakfast with them the next morning. By breakfast I don't mean croissants, I mean a can or three of Belgium lager! This was at about 8 AM !

Cant wait to see them again at Rochester Sweeps 2007!
