A Superfluous Man (Flams Records FCD 002) by John Scott Cree
![]() A Superfluous Man (Flams Records FCD 002) |
A while ago, I along with countless others used to really enjoy the folk festival circuit. You know the times, when folk was fun with your Jasper’s and Billy’s. And then of course there was Wounded John Scott Cree. Now happily mended, John can once again be found working the folk circuit, often in company with his fellow Phatt’s (who also put in an appearance on this little silver disk). In the same school as the sadly missed Stan Arnold when it comes to lyric writing, John’s songs are in general on the humorous side such as the opening track ‘The Pith Of History’ and there are no delusions of grandeur here. Not the most subtle of recordings, but then again it doesn’t profess to be, I think the term I’m looking for is ‘ragged but right…’ John accompanied by his mates have produced a very enjoyable disk so the next time you catch him live why not pick up a copy. |
