Eamon Friel writes the sort of songs that make you want to sit still, listen and pause for thought -- a few rare minutes of peaceful, evocative serenity. In For The Day is a four track EP, with a couple of new tracks from a forthcoming album alongside a couple of older favourites.

"In For The Day" is a delightfully heartfelt duet with Mary Dillon -- a song inspired by a childhood memory of a countryside-dwelling couple visiting the town. The song is drenched in the romance of a couple both in awe and bewilderment of the sights and sounds of the town: "but you can't see the stars for the streetlights / and you can't hear the silence at all."

"The Western Wind" is a track from Friel's 2006 album, Here Is The River, a thoughtful commentary on his home town of Derry, and its younger generation emerging from a troubled past. A live version of "Such A Night Of Stars," is an out and out love song that avoids any pastiche, pouring forth with the most poignantly intimate of sentiments. "The Kingdom Of Love" explores love of a much more celestial nature, pondering what earthly deeds might provide the key to this promised kingdom.

These are utterly beautiful songs to sooth the mind and nourish the soul.
